It is no secret that courts have faced a backlog of cases for many years. There are many different factors that go into these backlogs, many of which can be reduced with the use of courtroom technology. Technology focused on virtual meeting spaces, content services, and smarter recording have emerged as important touchstones for how to streamline court proceedings. Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems have been tested in transcribing courtroom proceedings. If these systems are able to accurately record and create appropriate court documents, many man hours could be saved. These documents, instead of being paper and ink, would be digitally searchable instead of filed by hand. As more cases are filed in our courts, we will need these technologies to avoid a backlog and to service as many cases as possible – accurately and fairly.
